Diablo 3 Classes: If you’re interested in buying Blizzard’s “Diablo 3″ or already own it, then the first thing that you will need to learn about are the five Diablo 3 classes. These include the Monk, the Barbarian, the Demon Hunter, the Witch Doctor, and the Wizard.
Remember that each class can be played as either male or female, and will have his or her own particular set of specialized items to wield in battle. The Barbarian, for example, is meant to wield powerful Swords and Battle Axes, while the Demon Hunter is designed for ranged weapons.
Also, each class can be classified in different ways. They can be classified either as melee oriented or range oriented. They can also be classified as spell casters or as warriors. And perhaps most important of all, the characters can be classified according to their strengths and weaknesses.
The following is a brief overview of the different Diablo 3 classes, along with their strengths and weaknesses. So if you want to play Diablo 3 like a pro then you may want to read the tips mentioned below.
Diablo 3 Classes – An Overview:
Class #1: The Monk
Although some Diablo fans might say that the Monk is related to Diablo 2′s Paladin, such observations are not quite accurate. Despite being a warrior priest, like the Paladin, the Monk has his own unique abilities and playing style. Also, unlike his predecessor, the Monk does not have the aura skills which were among the Paladin’s trademark abilities.
Of the various Diablo 3 classes however, the Monk class features some unique skills and abilities. Mantras and Combat Combos are some of the more interesting aspects of the Monk’s skills. Also, unlike the Paladin in Diablo 2, the Monk is more oriented for speed and evasion rather than actual armor.

The most interesting part about the Monk is his ability to focus his “Spiritual Power” into making quick and powerful attacks against multiple enemies. So if you like a character who is oriented for fast attacks and complex tactics then you ought to give the Monk a try.
Class #2: The Barbarian
The Barbarian is the only character from Diablo 2 to make a comeback in Diablo 3. And although there have been some changes, the Barbarian also retains many of his trademark skills from Diablo 2, such as the Whirlwind and various types of War Cries for example.
Also, it’s worth pointing out that the Barbarian, although portrayed as a character for gamers who like brute force, requires a bit of finesse to play successfully. It’s worth mentioning, for example, that the Barbarian’s main characteristics involves inflicting and absorbing damage. However, given the addition of the “Fury” attribute, the Barbarian now has the ability to intensify his attacks and lower the damage inflicted on him.

Moreover, the Barbarian also has a certain degree of maneuverability through his “Leap” ability, which allows him to either escape tight situations or to close the distance between himself and his enemies within a second. So despite his brutish veneer, playing the Barbarian also requires a certain degree of strategic thinking. So all things considered, the Barbarian of Diablo 3 lives up to his reputation – brutal, relentless and versatile. Class #3: The Wizard
The Wizard’s greatest asset is her ability to conjure high damage spells, like the “Arcane Orb,” defensive spells, like “Storm Armor,” and tactical spells, like “Slow Time.” These different types of spells are only useful however, when they are used in tandem with other skills, thus creating a multiplier effect that allows the Wizard to stay out of harm’s way, while at the same time, dishing out as much damage as possible.

However, the Wizard does have a couple of weaknesses. The first weakness is that she cannot take a lot of damage, so try to keep your Wizard out of harms way as much as possible. The second weakness is that the Wizard is dependent on her Arcane Powers. So if you run out of that then your character is in serious trouble. Despite these weaknesses however, the Wizard remains a powerful Diablo class, and rightfully deserves the admiration of many Diablo fans.
Class #4: The Witch Doctor
The Witch Doctor can be thought of as the successor of the Necromancer from Diablo 2. Like the Necromancer, the Witch Doctor relies on curses to weaken his enemies, destructive spells to hurt them, and summoned creatures to kill on his behalf. Also, of all the Diablo 3 classes, the Witch Doctor also relies on a lot poison related abilities.
Despite these strengths however, you must remember that the Witch Doctor is a spell caster, and generally speaking, spell casters can’t take a lot of damage. Unlike more resilient characters, like the Barbarian and the Monk, the Witch Doctor relies on his minions to soak up the damage on his behalf.
This is both a good thing and a bad thing. It’s a good thing if you have plenty of Mana, because you can summon additional minions whenever your enemies destroy some of them. It’s a bad thing, because when you run out of mana, you can’t summon any more minions, and the Witch Doctor will become vulnerable to attacks.

The good news is that the Witch Doctor doesn’t have to rely on his minions exclusively. The use of special spells and curses allows the Witch Doctor to weaken his enemies or to increase the life of his allies. When these skills are used effectively with one another, the Witch Doctor becomes an effective character with lots of tricks.
Class #5: The Demon Hunter
The Demon Hunter is the successor of Diablo 2′s Assassin. Like the Assassin, the Demon Hunter relies on stealth, speed and traps. This makes her a relatively difficult character to play, especially among gamers who have never played an Assassin in Diablo 2.
Also, the Demon Hunter has a lot of skills when it comes to attacking a single enemy. Arrows and Crossbow Bolts happen to be one of the favored tools of the Demon Hunter, and such skills allow her to take out more powerful demons before they can become a serious threat on the battlefield. This is why of all the Diablo 3 classes, the Demon Hunter deserves the title of being the most subtle one of them all.
In addition to powerful ranged attacks, the Demon Hunter also features powerful traps, like “Spike Trap” and “Caltrops.” Such trap-related skills, when combined with evasive tactics will allow the Demon Hunter to inflict continuous damage on her enemies. So if you favor rapid maneuvers and tactical traps, the Demon Hunter should be your number one choice.
We hope you can choose your favorite class now. If yes, it’s time to reach level 60 with your Diablo 3 character – to learn how to do this, read this tutorial: How to reach level 60 as quick as possible
